Any restaurant named after the pungent little pod that flavors any savory dish worth its salt – we figure that place must be good. The Garlic in Killington, VT does not disappoint.
This self-described ‘upstyle Italian restaurant’ has a cozy, yet sophisticated ambiance – perfect for date night, girls’ night out or a group outing with your rowdy friends and family. The booths are intimate, while the bar is open and inviting.
The Garlic’s wine list is reasonably priced, but with an extensive array of handcrafted martinis, you may decide to skip the vino altogether. (Or, have both. We won’t tell.) After all, this place is all about celebrating life’s little moments.
We tried the Chocolate Covered Pretzel, a sweet and salty delight made with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka and Frangelico with a salted rim. If you prefer yours with a slightly lower sugar content, try the Greek Gimlet, a twist on the classic cocktail made with vodka or gin with lime juice and star anise.
Traveling on a budget? Stop in any night for Happy Hour specials, with half-price tapas until 6 p.m. Ladies can enjoy half-price food items Tuesday nights at the bar.
True to its name, The Garlic starts every table with a warm loaf of bread and roasted garlic cloves with parmesan. You really need to try the acclaimed Zuppa de Garlic, the house potato and roasted garlic soup. (We’ll eat that ‘soup du jour’ every jour.) After that, the entrees and tapas are yours for the choosing.
By the way, we attempted to count how many times the word ‘garlic’ appears on the menu, but we got distracted by the pleasant aromas wafting from the kitchen, the sights of happy customers clinking their glasses and the sounds of gleeful laughter from the next table.
